BRING BACK MEMORIES?

If these little friends look familiar it's very likely the characters that charmed you as a baby were made by Dolly. Grandparents may even recall having Dolly products in their room as a child. We've been making babies feel at home for over 75 years with the world’s most lovable characters. Now as then, mothers have cradled their babies with love by surrounding them with Dolly. Some things never go out of style...

1920's - 1940's

From the late 1920’s thru the mid-1940’s, Dolly produced a complete line of seasonal novelties a few of which are shown here. The Christmas Houses sold for 25 cents a piece or 5 for a $1.00 and were used to decorate fireplace mantels at Christmas. Joco the Monkey would climb the string by pulling on the yellow handles!

1940's - 1950's

The late 1940’s and early 1950’s marked our entrance into the "Baby Business". We started by making wall décor for baby’s room and in the 1950’s added coordinating lamps and our first Disney products. The most popular was a Mickey and Friends music box. The music box played as the characters revolved. Our products were featured on one of the most popular TV shows "I Love Lucy". Too bad TV was black and white in those days!!!

1960's - 1980's

The 1960’s thru the 1980’s saw us really expand our product offerings with the addition of plush mobiles, vinyl toys and the very first licensed character diaper bags. Some of our most popular products were our Bambi lamp, our Winnie-the-Pooh diaper bags, our Disney Babies mobiles and an all time classic, our Balloon Vendor Lamp, which became the most popular juvenile lamp ever.

To the future...

As the old saying goes "we’ve come a long way, baby". We hope that this pictorial journey is as fun to watch as it was to put together. Many of our "old Dolly" products are found for sale on E-Bay for a lot more than they originally retailed for!!
